If you didn’t catch The Red Velvet Cake War last week, then you have missed out. You still have four more chances starting today. I don’t use oxymorons very often, but this play is seriously funny; seriously.
The zany characters presented before us in this first of a trilogy of plays by Jones Hope Wooten are not easy to forget. I favorite character was Barry Foster’s Uncle Aubrey; especially his laugh. He had some of the best jokes. I enjoyed and identified with Shauna Temple’s portrayal of the overstressed and excitable Gaynelle. Jennifer Foreman as Wyvette Verdeen and Ruthanne Cassidy as Peaches round out the trio of over the top cousins waging war with Aunt LaMerle. The stakes are high, so they can’t afford to lose.
Don’t miss this play!
