Cast List Announced for Upcoming “Alice In Wonderland”

Cast List Announced for Upcoming “Alice In Wonderland”

This has been a VERY difficult job. Thanks to Cory Broom for all his help! We cast 55 characters with 44 students. Everyone has a part: some big, some small, all fun! Several of you are cast as more than one character; please take notcie of that. You were all so very brave, and I am so very proud of you. You may not have been given the part you wanted, and that’s the part of theater that you have to get used to, as unpleasant as it is. We opted to not do the “kids version” of Alice in Wonderland, because we wanted you all to rise to the challenge. I know you all can do it. It will be a lot of hard work for the next couple of weeks, but we are going to wow the crowd!

Break a leg and congratulations!

REMEMBER: “There are no small parts, just small actors.” -Stanislavsky

Waverlee Cooper – Alice ;

the main character of the story. She is a seven-year-old English girl with lots of imagination and is fond of showing off her knowledge. Alice is polite, well raised and interested in others, although she sometimes makes the wrong remarks and upsets the creatures in Wonderland. She is easily put off by abruptness and rudeness of others. As the story progresses, she becomes more sure of her identity.

Rachel Belcher – The White Rabbit;

the first Wonderland character Alice encounters. She follows him when he hurries away and thereby enters Wonderland. He appears to be late for his job. While walking through Wonderland, Alice  comes upon the White Rabbit again. He is still in a hurry, mistakes her for his housemaid Mary Ann, and orders her to get his gloves and a fan. In the end we discover that the White Rabbit is a herald in the Queen of Heart’s court.

Kierra Figgins – Mouse;

this is one of the creatures that fell into the pool of Alice’s tears. He tries to dry the others by telling them the driest story he knows.

Ethan McCollum -Duck;

he also fell into Alice’s pool of tears. He is said to be modeled after Canon Duckworth.

Abbigail Noah / Rae Guidry -Dodo; (will alternate as Dodo & 3 of Hearts)

another creature that fell into the pool. He suggests to do a Caucusrace to get dry. He is said to be modeled after Dodgson (Carroll) himself.

Marlee Bird-Lory;

Also fell into the pool. She is said to be modeled after Alice’s sister, Lorina.

Jade Clark -Eaglet; Also fell into the pool. She is said to be modeled after Alice’s other sister, Edith.

Jonah Courtier-Old Crab;

is also part of the party that fell into Alice’s pool of tears.

Oceanna Rougeau -The Caterpillar ; (2 of Hearts)

is sitting on a mushroom while smoking a hookah (our Caterpillar blows bubbles), when Alice first meets him. Although he is rather strict and not very friendly, and corrects Alice’s recitation of a poem, he does help her by advising her to eat from the mushroom if she wants to change her size. In the end, he crawles away.

Cambree Williams-Frog-Footman;

he serves at the house of the Duchess.

Audrey Zeto-Fish-Footman;

he brings an invitation from the Queen to the Duchess’ house.

Marlee Bradley-Duchess;

she is very ugly and mistreats her baby. She is also fond of finding morals in things. She tries to be in everyone’s good books (especially the Queen’s one) by acting very complimentary.

Joseph Rougeau-Baby/pig;

as a baby it constantly howls and sneezes because of the pepper. When Alice takes it outside it turns into a pig.

Kyriea Sugg-Cook;

she makes soup with too much pepper and throws things at the Duchess, the baby and Alice. Later she is a witness in the trial.

Lani Daniels-Cheshire Cat;

is the cat of the Duchess. Alice meets it when she leaves the Duchess house, and finds it in a tree. It constantly grins and can disappear and reappear whenever it likes. Sometimes it disappears and leaves its grin behind.

The Cheshire Cat is the only character in Wonderland who actually listens to Alice. With his remarks, he teaches Alice the ‘rules’ of Wonderland. He gives her insight in how things work down there.

Chloe Garrett-March Hare;

he is holding a tea party with the Hatter and the Dormouse. The party will continue forever, as they live in a frozen time. Later on, the March Hare is a witness during the trial.

Regina Marley-The Mad Hatter;

is one of the members of the Mad Tea Party. Later he also appears as a witness during the trial. He occasionally is very rude and provokes Alice during the tea party. When he is called upon by the Queen, he is very nervous and frightened.

Bailey Noah / Brittany Dixon-Dormouse (Brittany is also Sheep); (alternate as 4 of Hearts)

another member of the tea party and witness. He constantly falls asleep and is mistreated by the Hare and the Hatter.

Kaylee Lambert (5)

Karly Rogers (7)

Jaden Henry (2)

Five, Seven and Two; they are playing cards and the Queen’s gardeners. They’re painting roses red because they planted white ones by mistake.

Tristen Anding-Knave of Hearts;

he carries the crown and is later accused of stealing tarts.

Chase Courtier-King of Hearts;

The Queen of Hearts’ incompetent husband. She completely dominates him. The King doesn’t have much notion of how a trial works, but is rather stubborn.

Kayla Foster-The Queen of Hearts;

is one of the playing card characters Alice meets when she is finally able to enter the beautiful garden through the door in the hallway.

The Queen of Hearts rules over Wonderland and is a tyrant – violent, authoritative and dominant. She likes to play croquet with live flamingoes and hedgehogs as mallets and balls (but only when she wins, and by her own rules) and constantly orders the beheading of people when something isn’t to her liking (although these orders apparently never are actually carried out). She also has her own ideas about how trials should be conducted, and is feared by all other Wonderland inhabitants because of her lack of patience and explosive character.

Julia Droll-Gryphon;

he takes Alice to the Mock Turtle. With him he explains the Lobster Quadrille to Alice.

Nathan Hayes-Mock Turtle;

he seems to be very sad and constantly sobs. He tells Alice about his schooldays.

Tyler Regan-Red Queen;

she lets Alice join the game of chess and advises her how to move. She also tells her how she should behave as a queen. She expects Alice to abide to the rules of proper etiquette.

Carroll describes her like this: “The Red Queen I pictured as a Fury, but of another type; her passion must be cold and calm; she must be formal and strict, yet not unkindly; pedantic to the tenth degree, the concentrated essence of all governesses!”

Aimee McNeil-White Queen;

About her, Carroll wrote: “Lastly, the White Queen seemed, to my dreaming fancy, gentle, stupid and pale; helpless as an infant; and with a slow, maundering, bewildered air about her just suggesting imbecility, but never quite passing into it; that would be, I think, fatal to any comic effect she might otherwise produce. There is a character strangely like her in Wilkie Collins’ novel No Name: by two different converging paths we have somehow reached the same ideal, and Mrs. Wragg and the White Queen might have been twin-sisters.”

Brittany Dixon – Sheep;

the original story had the White Queen transform into a sheep. The knitting shopkeeper.

Claudia Williams -Guard; (4 of Hearts)

during the train trip through the 3rd square he asks Alice for her ticket.

Hunner Font-Gentleman in white paper; (5 of Hearts)

he is also in the train carriage. His appearance could be a political joke.

Jaycie Dronnett-Goat; (3 of Clubs)

another passenger in the carriage.

Nonnie Courtier- Beetle; (6 of Hearts)

another passenger.

Joshua Gosset-Horse; (5 of Clubs)

another passenger.

Rhys Howeth  -Tweedledum;

fat twin brother of Tweedledee, dressed as a schoolboy. With his brother he shows Alice the sleeping Red King and tells her about the Walrus and the Carpenter. The brothers are rather affectionate with one another, but don’t hesitate to fight over insignificant matters. They are also cowardly.

Natalye Allen –Tweedledee;

fat twin brother of Tweedledum, dressed as a schoolboy.

Serenity Ytuarte-Humpty Dumpty; (7 of Hearts)

an egg who sits on a very narrow wall. He is very proud, rude, easily-offended and claims to be the master of words. In the end he (presumably) falls off the wall.

Brandon Curl -White Knight; (8 of Hearts)

He cannot ride his horse properly, likes inventing things and is a little melancholic. We are told that he has shaggy hair, mild blue eyes, a kind and gentle face and fond is of inventions. This is also a description of Lewis Carroll, so he may have modeled the White Knight after himself. The Knight is also the only one who is truly nice to Alice and later she remembers him best.

Dalton Finley-Guidry –White Knight’s Horse; (9 of Hearts)

The White Knight continuously falls off of his not too cooperative horse.

Austin Rollins-Leg of Mutton; (10 of Hearts)

the Red Queen introduces it to Alice and therefore she cannot eat it anymore.

Gage Hale- 7 of clubs

Brandyn LeBouf – 9 of clubs

The Queen’s royal guard. These two always fight for lead.

Ashlyn Scott – Ace of Hearts;

The Queens number one guard, never leaves her side.
